As I mentioned in a previous blog, When I was designing websites back in the ’90s, digital marketing was easy. Put up a website on a Christian Web Hosting, make it look pretty decent, and wallah, within 2-3 weeks, you were ranking on Search Engines. If memory serves, back in the day, it was Yahoo! and Netscape, the two biggies. It was great because your competition on the web was spotty at best.

Before the Internet, your clientele were the counties surrounding your home; today, it’s the world. That’s the good news; the bad news is that the same holds for everyone with a website. A quality Christian website design with access to all stages of marketing assistance and other tools can significantly help.

Fast forward to 2023, websites are getting much more sophisticated, and there are now billions of web pages. Everybody and their grandmother seem to have a website, blog post, or advertising medium. It amazes me how complex it has become.

Our Christian web hosting can help

So, enough with the past. That was then, this is now. Here’s my list of the five of ten things every Church marketing consultants and digital marketer should have today, not necessarily in any order.

Be compelling – defined | kəmˈpeliNG | adjective evoking interest, attention, or admiration in a powerfully irresistible way: A digital marketer needs to be able to come up with a creative way to make a product or service interesting to the point where people want it for themselves. You have to find out what type of people would be most interested and speak to them in their vocabulary. Our Church marketing consultants can help extensively here. This step is essential. People appreciate dealing with people who understand their wants and needs.

Sociology and Analyzing Data – Let’s face it: unless you’re a Christian website design agency, you probably don’t want to look at spreadsheets all day and analyze all possible scenarios, but it is necessary. Without unlimited time and cash, finding out who your future customers will be and what motivates them to purchase can go a long way. This information helps you make better decisions and (usually) get results faster.

SEO & SEM – Once your website is finished, you will want to configure your Search Engine Optimization. These SEOs tell search engines what your site is about so they can index or list your site on their platform. This listing is essential as most people search for services on a search engine. You want to be listed as high as possible to grab people’s attention and tell them what you do. Suppose you’re not at the top of page #1; it’s like you’re not even there. This attention will be even more critical when Google launches its AI Search Generative Experience. You’re going to want to be on the ground floor for this! Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is a form of paying a search engine for more favorable results. I have mixed feelings about doing SEMs. It’s costly and gives some people the feeling that you need to cheat to get noticed. I’m not saying it’s wrong in every situation, but we can decide together what’s best for your success. That’s the role of a Christian web hosting agency.

You have to sell yourself, not just your product or service. People need a reason to buy from you. What makes you more qualified to provide that service the other guy doesn’t have? Or why is your product better? Perhaps your services are not better than the other guy’s, but you can do it cheaper. What is your niche? Why should I buy from you instead?

Does your website have good content? Is your advertising visually appealing and engaging? How’s the spelling and grammar on your website? Keep this tidbit in mind: most people today form an opinion of you within 7 seconds. They decide by looking at your site whether they want to do business with you. Does your site look cluttered or complicated? Does it appear it hasn’t been modernized in 25 years? Or maybe it seems like a third-grader wrote it? If you fit into any of these, your future clients are talking to your competitors.

That’s all I have room for now. I’ll do the other five in January.

Together, we can do this!
