What Are Google and Meta Ads

3-5 minute read. Google and Meta ads are paid online advertisements appearing on search results and social media. They enable businesses to target specific audiences and pay only when users interact with their ads. Google and Meta ads can be effective tools for increasing visibility and driving customer acquisition, especially for small businesses.

Summary

Google and Meta ads are paid platforms that empower businesses to showcase advertisements within Google search results and across Facebook and Instagram feeds. These ads connect companies with potential customers actively seeking their offerings or casually browsing social media. The platforms offer precise targeting options, enabling businesses to concentrate on specific demographics and geographic areas. Generally, these ads function on a pay-per-click or pay-per-view basis. When managed effectively, these advertising tools can substantially increase a business's visibility and produce a favorable return on investment.

and Can They Help My Business?

Business woman looking at her laptop and thrilled with the results she is seeing

If you’re a small business owner or running a ministry, you’ve probably heard about “Google Ads” or “Facebook Ads” before. Maybe you’ve even wondered if they’re worth trying. Perhaps you’ve thought, “That’s only for big companies,” or “I don’t have the money for that.”

I’ll be sure to break it down for you. There is no fluff, no fancy marketing lingo—just what it is, what it costs, and how it can help.

When someone goes to Google and types “best pressure washing near me,” you’ve probably noticed that the first few results have the word “Ad” next to them. That’s a Google Ad.

When you scroll on Facebook or Instagram and see a post that says “Sponsored,” that’s a meta ad.

In short, these are paid spots businesses use to show up when people search or scroll. You only pay when someone clicks on your ad or watches your video.

Why Are These Ads Important?

Imagine a young guy named Jack. He pressure washes driveways and wants to start his own business. But when people search for pressure washing services in his city, they see big companies first. Jack’s business isn’t even on the map—literally.

With a small budget, Jack could only show ads to people within 30 miles of his house who search “pressure wash” or “driveway power wash.” That means he’s not wasting money showing his ad to folks hundreds of miles away. He’s putting himself right before the people who need him right when they’re looking.

That’s the power of paid ads. They level the playing field.

How Much Do They Cost?

This part depends on how competitive your area or industry is. But here’s a basic example:

  • You could start with as little as $40 to $60 a day.
  • That might get you 30 to 100+ clicks daily from people actively searching for your service or scrolling through social media.
  • You stay in complete control of the budget and can pause it anytime.

There’s no need to spend thousands unless your business is ready to grow at that level. I recommend starting small, testing, and scaling once you see results.

What’s a Reasonable Expectation?

The goal is to make more than you spend. A standard advertising benchmark is ROAS (Return on Ad Spend). If you spend $100 on ads and make $300 from the new business you got, that’s a 3x ROAS.

That’s typically the goal I aim for – or better. But, like planting a garden, it takes time to get the soil right and grow something substantial.

Sometimes, you’ll get results quickly. Other times, it may take a few months of testing and adjusting. The good news is that digital ads let you track every dollar to see precisely what’s working.

What Do I Do If I Don’t Know Where to Start?

That’s where I come in. I’ve managed millions of dollars in ad campaigns for companies big and small. But my heart is for folks like Jack – people just trying to provide for their family, honor God, and make something of their gifts.

I don’t charge the typical agency prices, and there are no long-term contracts or massive upfront fees. I work with a low monthly retainer and do a digital audit first to ensure you’re not wasting money.

Final Thought

If you’ve ever thought, “This digital stuff isn’t for me,” I understand. I’ve helped people like you get past the tech and focus on what matters: getting more customers, making more impact, and doing it all with integrity.

If that sounds like something you’d want help with, I’d be honored to walk you through it.

For the glory of God,
